Moh's Story
Moh and his family received a ShelterBox in 2015 after airstrikes in Gaza forced them to flee their home. He recently shared his experience with us.
Shelterbox recognizes the cultural and spritual significance of the month of Ramadan in many of the diverse communities we assist. During this time, individuals may observe the practice of abstaining from food and drink from sunrise to sunset as part of their religious tradition. However, Ramadan is also a period of reflection, generosity, and community cohesion.
We are committed to respecting and supporting individuals during their most vulnerable moments by providing essential tools for them to maintain dignity and humanity. Our mission remains unwavering in delivering assistance to those in need, irrespective of cultural or religious backgrounds.
Shelter is more than just a roof – it’s a home. It’s the foundation for life, for families, for communities, for peace.
When disasters and conflicts rob people of their homes, you can help the most vulnerable people by providing them with emergency shelter and supplies.
Your support will help empower families and communities to begin the process of recovery and rebuild their lives after losing so much.
Using our shelter kits and tarpaulins, families can create a home after disaster. Our blankets, solar lights, cooking sets and ground mats offer a sense of comfort and relief, giving people space to heal from physical and emotional trauma.
Your support provides shelter that protects families from burning heat, bitter cold, dangerous animals and disease, and so much more.
With over 20 years of experience as a global organization, we are experts in emergency shelter after disaster. We often work in places that others don’t, making sure that we reach families who need support to take the next step in resuming their livelihoods.
From Cameroon to Paraguay, all the way to the Philippines and the Caribbean, we have provided shelter to over 2.5 million people so far.
We won’t stop until we see a world where no family goes without shelter after disaster. Will you help us?
Before the earthquake that struck Türkiye in February 2023, Aleu lived a comfortable life with her family. Their home was a place of security and comfort, where they could come together to look after one another.
But that all changed when the earthquake damaged their home. They were afraid to sleep inside for fear that aftershocks would cause their house to fall on them.
Thanks to ShelterBox supporters around the world, Aleu received a new tent, hygiene kit, a mattress and blanket.
“For now, we have been sleeping in a small camping tent outside the house. We then use our home to cook, do laundry, and everything else. We are thankful to have received a new tent so that we can sleep comfortably at night.”
Although Aleu does not know what the future holds, she shared her hopes: “I want my city to return to normal and I hope that my children’s schools recover from the earthquake and that they can receive a good education. I hope to move back into my home eventually.”
This is the impact you can have on people who have lost everything to disaster or conflict around the world.
