Around the world in a Spaceship
On 3 July 2012 young British explorer Mike Perham begins his second around-the-world adventure. After becoming the youngest person to sail around the world solo in 2009 he aims to be the first person to sail, drive and fly around the world by himself.
Mike is driving a Spaceship Campervan, a converted Toyota Previa and ‘the swiss army knife’ of campervans, over 23,000 miles. His trip, which he hopes will take just under six months to complete is in aid of ShelterBox. He hopes to raise at least £1 for every mile he drives.
During the journey, Mike will be stopping off at six locations where ShelterBox has deployed aid over the past twelve years including Thailand and Christchurch, New Zealand.
As training he has already completed a 1,000 mile trip around the UK stopping off at schools and Scout groups to award them with ShelterBox pennant flags in recognition of their support of ShelterBox disaster relief.
Mike leaves from Prime Meridian Walk, London at 11am on 3rd July. Family, friends, media and ShelterBox supporters are invited to attend to wave him off.
