Join our team of ShelterBox Canada Ambassadors!

Ambassadors are the face of ShelterBox in their community. Our Ambassadors are committed volunteers that speak about ShelterBox or arrange for awareness-building at local events and venues throughout the year. These incredible volunteers are at the heart of our organization and do an amazing job of sharing the ShelterBox story and inspiring others to support our cause.

We invest in training and resources to ensure that our Ambassadors have the knowledge and tools to speak about our organization, how we operate, and our deployments delivering emergency shelter across the world.   Promotional materials, training resources and frequent updates are included in the support we provide to our volunteer team.

This opportunity is suited to individuals that are service-oriented, self-starters, experienced public speakers or fundraisers, and are eager to play a pro-active role in building awareness and growing our revenue base.

Our Ambassadors are highly committed and are actively involved in multiple activities throughout the year and for an extended period of time.  If you are interested in volunteering but are not able to commit this time, we would be happy to explore other ways for you to join us as a volunteer.

Ambassador of the Month - August 2014

Neil Wylie - Saskatoon, SK

Over 130 Rotarians and ShelterBox supporters gathered in Saskatoon on June 10th at a fundraising dinner to hear guest speaker Ron Noseworthy describe his experiences as a ShelterBox SRT. The event was spearheaded by the five Rotary Clubs of Saskatoon and ShelterBox Ambassador Neil Wylie, who teamed up to hold the event which increased the profile of ShelterBox and raised over $25,000 for ShelterBox Canada!

The event was promoted early through posters, a mall display and some attention from the local CTV media outlet. A local Rotarian, Mr. Harold Empy, even hosted a birthday celebration which featured a ShelterBox display to collect donations in support of the occasion.   Free tickets were offered to those who purchased a box prior to the function. The Master of Ceremony, Mr. Jay Richards from CJWW radio station, volunteered to host the evening. Organizers included in the program a group of students from Bishop Roborecki Elementary School. These students have embraced ShelterBox as a special fundraising project and were formally recognized for their efforts by Ron Noseworthy.  The evening was highlighted by both a silent and live auction, which consisted of donations collected by local Rotarians and ShelterBox volunteers in support of the event.

Ron Noseworthy shared with those in attendance his direct experience providing disaster relief to families who lost everything. He was able to provide insight into the important role that Rotarians and ShelterBox supporters play in helping others around the world. By the end of the evening everyone had a greater understanding of how ShelterBox works in the field and the difference that every dollar donated makes to others in need.
